題目:The Concepts, Realizations and Applications of Inerter

概要: Analogies between mechanical and electrical networks are basic and very well-known. For the force-current analogy, the spring, damper and mass of mechanical systems are analog to the inductor, resistor and capacitor, respectively, of electrical systems. However, unlike the others, the mass element fails to be a genuine two-terminal network element. Therefore, electrical systems with ungrounded capacitors do not have a direct analogy to mechanical systems with springs, dampers and masses. Hence the achievable performance of passive mechanical system is inherently restricted. It is from the appreciation of the imperfect analogy that a new mechanical device, called Inerter, was proposed to substitute for the mass. Inerter is an ideal mechanical two-terminal element with the applied force proportional to the relative acceleration across the terminals. The Inerter can be mechanically realized by various ways. Until now, two realizations, namely the rack-and-pinion Inerter and ball-screw Inerter, have been proposed and tested. With the introduction of Inerter, all passive impedance can be mechanically realized by the Inerter, dampers and springs. And the achievable performance can be potentially improved by passive. At the end, we will introduce the current applications of Inerter, including the vehicle suspension control, motorcycle steering control and train suspension control.
