題目:Applications of classical and modern control techniques to quantum systems

概要: Lyapunov stability and LQG control are the most fundamental and important techniques of classical and modern control theory. In this talk, we discuss the utility of these control techniques in quantum information technologies using examples such as spins, optical cavities and Bose-Einstein condensates. Spins and optical cavities are well studied quantum system in quantum information and control, and Lyapunov functions are useful to show the performance of feedback systems as well as the stability. Other physical substrates of quantum information processing, atom laser beams, are devices that exploit wave properties of matter to form a beam of atoms that is analogous to optical lasers in that it is coherent and intense. While the concept of an atom laser has been experimentally demonstrated, atoms lasers are still quite a way from being available for use in applications. Coherence control is the key to success in the applications of atom laser beams because atoms are much more fragile than photons. In this example, it is shown that atom laser coherence is improved by a new control scheme based on LQG control.
