Mini-course of Lectures
Parkinson’s disease seen through the eyes of an engineer
Peter Wellstead
Professor (Emeritus), National University of Ireland, Maynooth and Manchester University, UK

System biology for the analysis or the synthesis of the function of biosystems has been actively investigated in the last decades.  In order to develop this research field deeply and widely, we have organized a series of seminars on system biology in the last two years.  This time, we invite Prof. Peter Wellstead (National University of Ireland, Maynooth and Manchester University, UK,) and organize a mini-course of lectures.  Prof. Peter Wellstead has investigated Parkinson’s disease by using its mathematical model from the viewpoint of control engineering and given interesting results.  He will introduce the idea of the model and explain the phenomena on Parkinson’s disease through its analysis in this mini-course.  He will also give a chance of discussion on “the pleasures and difficulties” as an engineer working in the traditional territory of biologists after the mini-course if we have enough time.  We encourage researchers and students from wide areas to attend this mini-course of lectures.

Date : 23rd March, 2016, 13:00-17:30
Location : Lecture Room 61, Faculty of Engineering Bldg.6,
The University of Tokyo
